A Unique CAD Team of Diverse Skills

a blend of pics, IEE wiring regs, autocad certificates, BS for modular wiring and an electrical tester

Did you know the team at Curo are electrically qualified technicians to the old 236 Part C, which of course incorporated a few versions of the Regs too? For Cad-Lads, they certainly have an intimate knowledge of electrical services, particularly when it comes to Modular Wiring, but also project management, other building services, other trades, installation methods and cost control.

Taking 3-4 years of day-release studies while being full-time employed, the C&G 236 Part I & II were the go-to courses for electrical apprentices. The C Certificate being an additional 1-2 years of day-release. These courses were generally split as a half-day of practical installation and testing methods, followed by an afternoon of theory. We understand the current options of the 2365-x offer less practical work these days.

At the same time, evening courses offered the route into AutoCAD, which led to Customisation & System Management, as well as 3D Design, eventually replaced by either SolidWorks or Revit depending on your trade.

With over a decade at a building services contractor working with both electrical and mechanical engineers, this gave a grounding to head into a Modular Wiring manufacturer for a further decade+, getting closer to projects, along with moving into cost control, estimating, manufacturing and senior management. Higher Education didn't stop there for David, who attended night-classes for a further 5 years, turning a HND in Computing into a BA (Hons) in Computing/Management at Sunderland University. As you can appreciate, this is a unique cad team of diverse skills.

Now in our 8th year, we have developed an interesting and diverse client base. Expanding on our core modular offer, we also undertake a lot of conversion work for design engineers, taking mark-ups through to professional layout or schematic drawings. We have also taken work on in the surveying sector, measuring premises which are of an age that there are no digital records. Once measured we can produce the architectural layouts, then add any specified services.

If you're a Modular manufacturer, old or new, who needs some support then we would love to help, or maybe an Engineer of a sub-contractor tentatively looking to get on board with pre-fab cabling? We're also keen to help Design Consultants looking to get Engineer's mark-ups into CAD, or needing some help to implement a Modular-ready project.
