FAQ's

  • Why use Curo for Modular design over mainstream manufacturers?
We feel by engaging with us earlier in the process, it allows your engineers and the project itself to have a better understanding of all its detail. Typically, the modular wiring order will not be placed until only a few weeks before the first deliveries. However, the manufacturers require around a minimum of 4 weeks lead time, so imagine if you already had a schedule of materials to go straight into production ... so when you place the order, their design teams then have to start the process, once again under unnecessary pressure, and race toward getting information prepared for the first zone in the sequence. Another advantage of using us is the continuity of our experience of expertise. Given the nature of this niche sector, when staff start changing roles, the knowledge they gain is lost to the industry, causing the cycle of mistakes and learning, again and again.
  • As a manufacturer, why should we outsource the CAD-work to Curo?"
As well as the general benefits of outsourcing (shown in 'Services - CAD Outsourcing' https://www.curomodular.com/cadoutsourcing), you should use Curo because we are quite possibly the most experienced team of Modular Wiring experts you are likely to come across. This provides the continuity of expertise your projects require, and product and system knowledge to provide seamless transitional periods, as opposed to finding staff and training them.
  • What experience do you have?
We have Modular Wiring experience of over 30+ years complete with a combination of electrical qualifications and building services experience. We also have at least 20+ years of AutoCAD and CAD Management
  • Do you only operate in the UK?
No, as a services-based CAD-provider, we can operate anywhere with internet access. We are open to everyone around the world, and have already had orders from Ireland and Australia.
  • If we used you for Modular Wiring design, won't that be an extra cost to us?Whereas the manufacturer would normally absorb the cost..."
Not necessarily, no. By getting the design done outside of the manufacturer, you are technically freeing-up their own resource and so, not utilising their overhead. By being self-sufficient with the design, one could assume that there could be some negotiation, but of course this would have to be discussed with those individual businesses. By engaging with us, we are also accepting responsibility for all connectivity throughout the project. A simple schedule of materials and delivery dates are all that needs to be discussed with the manufacturer. It may be possible that this is the preffered position of some of the manufacturers. This is their core business, with electrical engineering, CAD management, project management, and contracting in general, sometimes being outside of their core skill sets.
  • I'm a complete novice to Modular Wiring - Cost-wise, what are the pros and cons?"
Well simply, cost-wise, modular wiring materials are more expensive than traditional - 20-30% more. However, this is massively offset by the labour savings it offers, which can be in the region of a 50-70% saving.
  • Are you a manufacturer?
No. We are services based only. Your chosen supplier would still be your commercial decision. We are offering to create the bill of materials for the manufacturer to build, saving potentially several weeks of 'bottle-neck' pressure and reducing risk.
  • We are a Building Services company and always struggle to get our As Fitteds/Record Drawings into our O&Ms on time. Can you help?
Absolutely, yes. With our Drawing Office and Building Services experience, we appreciate the difficulty many of you have with As Fitteds and so we want this to be one of our core activities where hopefully we build a relationship and ultimately benefit each other with good quality, competitive pricing and repeat business.
  • Are you BIM ready?
Yes, we have access to Revit, so depending on which stage we need to work on the model will dictate how involved we need to be. This could be different answers for a modular project compared, for example, to a consultant asking if we can help with Revit modelling.
  • Do you do any drawings outside of the M&E sector?
Yes, we can operate in any given sector/industry, with regard to general CAD-work. For further information: - Give us a call +44 191 516 6036 - Drop us an email info@curomodular.com - Or fill in a contact form on our Contact page
  • What resources do you have?
Initially, we have access to around 200 man hours per-week which can be easily changed for CAD-work, but would need a little-lead time to prepare for a large modular wiring project as some training may need to be provided.
  • You have previously worked with one of our competitors, how can I be assured that my sensitive information will be safe?"
We understand the reluctance, but we can assure you that there is no risk at all by working with us, our staff here at Curo just want to help you get your project moving. We don't require any of your sensitive information, unless you want to issue them to us, we don't need product drawings or unit rates. We could create a completely unbiased schedule of materials based on terminologies that all of you would understand. We don't need the latest drawing of a spur for us to tell you how many you need. When we return the drawings and data extractions, you can then translate them into your own product codes and populate another column with your unit rates. We're hoping to work with you Post-Order, when you've won the job and need help, so we also wouldn't need to be involved in your Tender stage, as again, this might be one of your sensitive issues. We can also sign a NDA with you to prove our commitment. We want to succeed with Curo being unbiased to anyone, as if it does not, then this experience will also be lost to the industry like many before us.
  • Do you have PI Insurance?
Yes, we do - contact us if you require further details: - Give us a call +44 191 516 6036 - Drop us an email info@curomodular.com - Or fill in a contact form on our Contact page
  • Do you recommend a manufacturer in particular?
No. We would like to assure all manufacturers and their clients that we are not here to influence anyone's decision about who to use. Simply, we want to use our skills, knowledge and experience to benefit the whole sector, to help each manufacturer as and when required, giving them someone consistent to call upon when in a difficult situation. Similarly, for design consultants and electrical contractors, we will be producing neutral drawings, unreferenced to manufacturers but using basic terminologies which the whole indusrty understands.
